I have died many a death in love, and yet, had I not loved I would never have lived at all.David Lasater

This memorial website was created to remember my goregous, loving husband Michael W. Davis. Michael was a San Marcos High School graduate who later went on to attend Texas State University. Two years into college, after the events of 9/11, Michael decided to join the United States Army. He chose to specialize in becoming a Combat Engineer at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

During his graduation there, he excelled in all aspects of training leading him to receive the Commanding General's Award for Military Excellence - an award that is set aside for only the most outstanding soldier. He then went on to Fort Benning, Ga. for training in becoming an Airborne Sapper. He received his wings and moved to Fort Richardson, Alaska.

In December 2005, Michael came home to marry his love, Taryn. They resided in Alaska until October 2006 when Michael received his orders to serve in Baghdad, Iraq. Before leaving, he received the Army Achievement Medal for his excellence during pre-deployment training.

Michael had a passion for life and he put that forward into his work. He never left any project unfinished and he always did it to the best of his ability.

The honored, who were able to have met Michael, would tell you his smile lit up a room. His love for his wife was one which very few will ever experience and she paid it back double-fold.

On May 21, 2007, Michael, who's mission in Iraq was road clearance operations, had his vehicle hit multiple times by IEDs. He was looked up to in his unit as a leader, someone all could trust, someone all his fellow soldiers miss tremendously. He received the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple heart, the Combat Action Badge and the Army Good Conduct Medal during his duty for our country.

The love, compassion, and stamina he had is one, that to this day, will surpass most men. He put everyone first and would want his fellow soldiers to lead on. He was planning on finishing his degree in engineering after his time of service was over. He and his wife had plans of traveling the world together, swimming with sharks and starting a gorgeous family.

He also leaves behind his mother Sonya Davis Kennedy; father Myron Warner Davis; sisters Natalie Davis and Jessica Bell; brother-in-law Freeman Bell and beloved nephew Grayson "lil Mikey" Bell.

I will miss his laughter, smile, and selfless compassion,  and the world should know what a loss they are at with the passing of this courageous, wonderful and loving soul.
